  1. Right-click the Avast icon on your taskbar.
  2. Click Disable after 10 minutes on Avast Shields Control.
  3. Click OK to confirm the action.
  4. Then, re-enable Avast Shields control.
  5. Right-click Avast’s icon again on your taskbar. Click on Avast Shields Control and then click Enable all Shields.

Windows 10 should now recognize Avast. However, if you still have issues, there are other solutions.



2. Reinstall the Avast Antivirus

If you still have the problem, run the Avast Uninstall utility to remove Avast Antivirus from your computer. It will also delete all files related to Avast while Windows is in Safe Mode.

Step 1: Start your system by following the normal procedure. Log in with an administrator account to delete the program.

Step 2: Select “Start” from the taskbar. Type “Control Panel” into the search bar. Open it.

Step 3: Once in the Control Panel click on “View by category”. Click on “Uninstall a Program” in the Programs section.

Step 5: Once Avast antivirus has been uninstalled, you will see a list of options, including Update, Repair Modify, Modify, and Uninstall. You must choose “Repair” from this menu. You can choose “Next” to fix the error caused by the Avast installation.

3. Try After Repair the Avast

If Avast won’t open or function properly, you can use the Avast Setup wizard.

Avast Repair will repair or replace any program files that are missing, corrupted or outdated. It also resets the software configuration.

Notice: Avast Repair may leave some settings unchanged and restore other settings to their default.

  1. You can close any antivirus or other apps that are currently running on your computer by right-clicking Start > Apps and Features.
  2. To confirm, choose the version of Avast you want from the left panel on the Apps and Features screen.
  3. In the Avast Setup wizard, select Repair.
  4. To confirm the repair, select Yes. If prompted, click on Done to confirm the repair.

 



4. Perform a Clean Install

A clean install can resolve almost all issues, including the Avast Not Opening on Windows problem. A clean install is easy. This method can be used if all the above methods fail to resolve the issue.

It does not only perform the uninstall but also deletes any cache files and corrupted registry entries.

To perform a clean installation, you can follow these steps.

Step 1: Go to the Avast download page and click the FREE DOWNLOAD TO PC button. This will allow you to download the most recent version of Avast.

Step 2: Go to the uninstallation page for Avast and download the uninstallation utility, avast clear. Save it to your computer.

Step 3: After downloading the files and booting into Safe Mode then disconnect from the Internet.

Step 4: To open the Run dialog box, press the Windows key + R keys simultaneously. To open the System Configuration window, type MSConfig into the dialog box. Click OK.

Step 5: Click on the Boot tab and check the Safe boot option. Then click OK.

Step 6: Turn on the computer to enter Safe Mode.

Step 7: Run Avast’s uninstallation utility and browse the folder in which it is stored. You can keep Avast if it is in the default folder, Program Files. Navigate through File Explorer until the right folder is found.

Step 8: Click on Remove, then restart your computer using the normal startup.

You can now check if Avast is not opening on Windows.



5. Something Wrong While Avast Installation Process Trust Error

This error message may appear when you try to install Avast for Windows 10.

You’ll see a Process Trust fatal error message. It states that Avast won’t trust Avast Installation. This means you can’t install Avast on your computer.

This error is caused by a conflict between Avast (or your current antivirus program) and Avast. Disable your antivirus program (in most cases Windows Defender), and then install Avast.

6. Reboot your computer

  1. Enter System Configuration into the search box and hit Enter.
  2. Select the Hide All Microsoft Services checkbox, then click Disable All.
  3. Click on the Startup tab and click on Open Task Manager.
  4. Select all items in Task Manager and click on Disable.
  5. Close the Task Manager.
  6. Click OK on the Startup tab in the System Configuration dialog box.
  7. Reboot your computer and then try to update Avast.
