How Has Technology Changed Education for the Worst

Development of technology is important. It is impossible to disprove it. Because of technology, our medicine, space programs, online communication are on such a high level. For rare people who like to spend time alone at home and catch as much information as they can, this world is perfect. Age of internet made changes in minds, quality of knowledge, and information exchange rate. However, let’s try to analyze if there is some adverse influence on modern word, especially on education. Education begins from childbirth and never stops. Talking about it, we discuss the classical meaning of education like school, university or college, but keep in mind all kinds of it.

Laziness. What a terrible world. But let’s face the truth, using technologies improves this human quality. We believe that we can find anything on the internet in a few minutes, so we don’t need to spend a lot of time for researching, reading books, consulting with mentors or going to the library. Unfortunately, it is true.

There is a lot of information on your small laptop, but find the necessary and reliable source is not so simple. Sure, it takes less time than a century ago, but the quality is so low. Anyway, every successful 20 minutes lesson preparation provides self-confidence and laziness as a result. The main problem is that we believe that every problem has a quick online solution and if we don’t find it we become angry and sometimes panic.

Memory impairment. We don’t need to remember anything anymore. Dates of birth are in the calendar, meetings are in email, shopping lists are in notes and all this in laptops and phones. Pictures of friends are on Instagram; stories of life are on Facebook. Notifications for drinking water, calling parents, cleaning house destruct our memory. We can’t surprise someone with dates of significant battles, because there is only one request on google. It seems that we don’t need memory anymore, but this is an illusion. The brain works correctly only by processing information and making memory notes. The clever person is not a human who remembers all answers, but a human who knows where to search all these answers, and that is the goal of memory. The simplest example is the lawyers. They remember a lot but remember ‘where to find’ much more, and it is really important. So what we get in the worth situation after university? Well, an empty mind of a certified specialist.

With the development of modern technology, education world loses its weight every day. You can read books online; if you are busy for studies you can write essays online or hire professionals to do it for you; you can even get a respectful diploma online. So many universities appeared and claimed to be a place of science, but in fact, they are typography of diplomas. To pass most interviews to computer science position you don’t even need to be graduated. Moreover, some companies prefer self-educated candidates. It is not because they hate universities; it is because they don’t believe in the knowledge they give. All this upside-down world appeared with the development of technology. For a few brilliant people, it is good, but for the majority, it is a disaster because they don’t know the rules anymore.

According to these paragraphs, it seems that technology is killing education. It is not true, for sure. The main goal is to explain that every fact has both sides, so if even technology can sometimes be harmful, only imagine how contradictory can be effects of other phenomenons. It is necessary to keep in mind this fact because thanks to it, your critical thinking will help you to understand things outwards more clearly and explain the position of every person in dispute.
