2 female suspects questioned in school assault
Two 16-year-old girl died after a fight broke out in a high school restroom in Delaware. A spokeswoman for Wilmington’s mayor says two female suspects are being questioned by police after a 16-year-old girl died following a fight in a high school restroom.
Police say that the assault took place at Howard High School of Technology about the time students were arriving for the day. Wilmington Police spokeswoman Sgt.Alexandra Coppadge is a spokeswoman for Mayor Dennis Williams. She says the young women are being questioned at the Wilmington police station. Andrea Janvier says the girl was flown to A.I. DuPont Children’s Hospital in critical condition.
A public forum for mayoral candidates to discuss public safety had been scheduled at the school Thursday evening. Debate host WHYY said on its website that the event had been canceled. A woman who answered a knock on the locked doors of the high school told an Associated Press reporter that he would not be allowed in. The same woman told a parent the school had been dismissed for the day.

DuPont Children’s Hospital in critical condition. Janvier says the girl was 16.
